The Brillion News

If GREASE is the word, then Brillion High is the place to be to watch some of Brillion High School’s most talented performers.

The BHS Music Department will have its opening performance of the musical, “GREASE – Student Version” on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.  There will be one matinee performance on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m.  The final three performances are scheduled for Thursday-Saturday, November 8, 9, and 10, all curtain times at 7 p.m.  The student version of “Grease” removes all language and content issues that may be a concern to parents. This is a “G” rated production. All performances will be held at the Endries Performing Arts Center, located at Brillion High School.

Just over 40 years ago, GREASE opened on Broadway. At that time, 1950’s nostalgia was not the “vogue.”  In fact, American Graffiti, the movie that would bring about the surge in 50’s nostalgia, would not be released for another year.  In February 1972, GREASE was a completely different kind of Broadway musical,  combining early rock and roll music and dancing with true (for that era) high school student language and characters.

Playing the role of Danny is senior, Bob Hussey.  Sandy will be portrayed by freshman, Hope Klessig.  The role of Rizzo will be played by senior Katelynn Fuhrmann.  Kenickie will be performed by senior, Silas Petrie.  The other Pink Ladies are Jenna Thiel, Millie Haushalter, and Sydney Huff.  The T-Birds will be played by Isaac Nadler, Tyler Wegner, and Jordan Mentzel.
