BRILLION – Around 3:50 p.m. today (Friday), there was a serious two-vehicle accident on Hwy 10. Initial, unconfirmed reports over the police scanner indicated there was entrapment and one unconscious person as a result of the accident. A helicopter has flown in to the scene, and Hwy 10 is currently (as of 4:10 p.m.) closed from Hacker Road to Glenview Ave. Please avoid the area to allow rescue workers room to deal with the situation.
Brillion First Responders, Fire Department and Police were on the scene as well.

UPDATE 1: It appears that Hwy 10 is now open again as of 5:10 p.m. on Friday. Please drive safely. There are still squad cars and workers near the scene. Still no word on who was involved or the extent of injuries, if any.
UPDATE 2: The following is the official press release sent out from the Brillion Police Department around 7 p.m. on Friday. As of right now, it does not provide too much more detail than what has previously been reported. However, we will pass this along, as well as more details in the future from the BPD as their investigation continues:
“At 3:45 p.m. on March 22, 2013 Brillion Police Department was dispatched for a two vehicle crash at 820 W. Ryan Street, City of Brillion. A vehicle traveling eastbound on US Hwy 10 crossed the center lane and was struck by a westbound vehicle.
US Hwy 10 was shut down for approximately 2 hours. The driver of the east bound vehicle was transported via helicopter for treatment and the other driver was not transported and left from the scene.
Brillion Police Department was assisted by Brillion Fire Department, Brillion First Responders, Calumet County Sheriff Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Manitowoc County Sheriff Department and Theda Star.
The accident is currently under investigation.”
