CHILTON – In a meeting to which the entire Calumet County Board was invited, the county’s Administrative Services Committee on Tuesday took up the topic of adding a half-percent county sales tax.
Only seven of the state’s 72 counties do not impose a county sales tax, and most of them are in our area – Calumet, Manitowoc, Outagamie and Winnebago counties along them.
Several uses for the new revenues that would result are being discussed.
The full county board will meet next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the courthouse in Chilton, with an open mic for comments from the public.
