FOREST JUNCTION – A massive response by area fire departments marked the scene on U.S. 10, just west of the Forest Junction Mobile Home Park, after an automotive repair business caught fire early Tuesday morning, January 30.
The fire was reported at about 3:20 a.m. at Legacy Automotive. The business is located next to several mobile homes in the park, and across the highway from Tesch Implement.
The initial dispatch to the Forest Junction Fire Department reported smoke and fire showing. As soon as the Forest Junction Fire Department had personnel and apparatus on scene, it activated a regional box alarm, calling up resources from the City of Brillion Fire Department, Chilton Fire Department, Hilbert Fire Department, Hollandtown Fire Department and Potter Fire Department.
The Chilton Fire Department was called on the second alarm, responding with an aerial ladder truck to attack the first from above.
The Calumet County Sheriff’s Department closed U.S. 10 to traffic from the roundabout interchange with State 57/32 to Marx Road (County D). About a dozen water tank trucks in queue on U.S. 10 delivered water to the scene.
No injuries have been reported at this time. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues, according to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department.
This story was updated to reflect a press release from the Calumet County Sheriff’s Department detailing the departments who assisted and an update on the injuries and investigation.
