BRILLION – January 21 was the latest date in the month for The Brillion News’ New Year’s Baby tradition that started in 1940. But for second-time parents, Marcy and Brandon Schoen, the day was right on time.
The easygoing couple lives in Potter and has ties throughout the area. Marcy, a 2011 Brillion High School graduate, nannies in Stockbridge. Brandon, a 2007 Hilbert High School graduate, has worked at Sargento Foods for the last year. Both also have siblings, including Marcy’s twin sisters who are juniors at BHS.
With Adley already walking and talking, the two want to enjoy each step of the journey with Reed.
“Definitely take every day like it’s their last because they grow up so quickly,” Marcy says. “With them being so close in age, I feel like it’s kind of nice because everything’s so fresh.”
The couple took Reed to the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital last week for nasal issues, where they also discovered he had to get a tongue tie removed. Now, they say, he’s “good to go.” They also say he’s sleeping good for the most part.
Marcy and Brandon did not know the sex going into the birth of either child. “There’s not many surprises in the world,” Marcy said. “It’s an extra incentive.”
In their free time, the couple says they enjoy staying busy and spending time outdoors.
The Potter Fire Department has played a big role in their lives too. The two are married and originally began spending time together at the Potter Ball League. “I always worked down there every Tuesday and she would come down there. The rest is history,” Brandon said.
