BRILLION – The pathway that is parallel on the side of National Avenue and leads to Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion has officially been named Robert Mathiebe Way.

Underneath his name, the sign reads: “Dedicated to the late, civic-minded citizen that spearheaded the development of the way.”

Mathiebe worked at Endries International and started Professional Plating Incorporated (PPI) with Bob Endries. He later served as mayor of Brillion from 1988 to 1994 and from 1997 to 2006. He served on the common council for 10 years too. Mathiebe passed away in January 2016.

“He was just loyal to everything. He was very smart. He had good plans. He was a clear thinker and he was a common sense guy,” Zander said. “That’s the kind of guy he was.”
