Brehmer, Carol Evelyn (Behnke)

9/10/2012
On Monday, September 10, 2012, Carol Brehmer of Green Bay left this earth to be with her Savior in her new heavenly home. Carol was born November 24, 1946, in Manitowoc, the daughter of Waldemar and Lavida (Rusch) Behnke.  She attended St. John & St. James Lutheran Parochial School, spending her childhood with her parents and sister on a farm in the Reedsville area.  She graduated from Reedsville High School as the salutatorian with the Class of 1964.  The Brillion Iron Works, IBM Dept. was her first employer. On Feb. 28, 1970, Carol married Gregory Brehmer at St. John & St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville.  He preceded her in death April 25, 2002.  Their first home was in Brillion where their marriage was blessed with two sons, Dale and Daniel.  In 1978, they moved to Green Bay where Carol resided to the present time.  She was most recently employed by the Green Bay School District since 1995 in the Food Service Dept.  Carol very much enjoyed her time working there and all the wonderful co-workers she had the privilege of getting to know and becoming very good friends with many of them. Carol was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing dinners she made with family and friends.  Decorating for the four seasons in her home and yard was something she always looked forward to.  Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved decorating her tree in various themes from year to year.  Carol was also very creative in putting together a special “themed” game for the grandchildren to enjoy on Christmas Eve.  She then followed through with that playfulness at Eastertime, cleverly hiding eggs and baskets full of candy for the grandchildren to find. Carol’s knowledge and her love of flowers were displayed every summer in her yard as it was a showplace of beauty, due to the love and care she put into it. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Kim Brehmer and their children Bryce and Brooke, Allouez; Daniel and Shelly Brehmer and their children Evan and Austin, Denmark; a beloved sister, Marlene (Dennis) Evenson, Valders; her mother-in-law, Ruby Brehmer, Brillion; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gloria and Paul Laabs, Hilbert; Linda and John Witzke, Duluth, MN; Steven Brehmer, Green Bay; and Wendy May, Fond du Lac.  Nieces, nephews and many cherished friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg; her parents and her father-in-law, Wilmer Brehmer. Friends and family may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 14, at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St.  Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, September 15, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 514 S. Clay St.  Funeral service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Roy Rose officiating.  Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Carol’s outgoing personality and love of life will be missed very much by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
