Walter L. “Wally” Olp

Walter L. “Wally” Olp, age 88, of rural Brillion, died on Thursday August 16, 2012 at his home. He was born July 1, 1924, son of the late Walter & Loretta (Dowidot) Olp. On August 21, 1945 he married Carol Mae Zarnoth in Reedsville. Wally farmed in the Town of Rantoul until 1967. He then worked at the Ariens Co. in Brillion from 1967-1978 when he moved to Ohio and worked for Contours as a manager, retiring from there in 1984 as vice president. He returned to Rantoul and built his log house. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul where he served on many committees and boards, and also served as treasurer for the Town of Rantoul for many years. Wally loved to fish and play cards. Survivors include his wife Carol, 4 daughters, Cindi Loose and significant other Richard Schmidt of Potter, Deborah (Jeffrey) Voigt of Hilbert, Laurie (David) Bethke of Brillion, and Roxanne (Donald) Evans Jr. of Orrville OH, 8 grandchildren, Corey, Brooke, Crystal, Crysta, Walter, Donnie, Robert and Nicole, 8 great grandchildren, a sister Diane (Ken) Aamot of West Bend, a brother, Gene (Mary Ann) Olp of Florida, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Germaine Olp, George Jelich, Betty (Pete) Zarnoth, Betty Zarnoth, Bert (Dorothy) Zarnoth and Darlene Sheehy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Ken and Dallas, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Dori Olp, Marilyn Jelich, Delmar Zarnoth and Pat Sheehy.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday August 19 at 4 00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. The Rev. Timothy Benninghoff will officiate. Burial will be in Brillion Community Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 1 00 P.M. until the time of service. Online condolences may be made at
