Dedication, open house coming up January 28
WRIGHTSTOWN – The Wrightstown Student and Community Wellness Center at Wrightstown High School will hold its grand opening on Sunday, January 28, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The fitness center will give tours and sign up people who want to go through the orientation program.
People can also join the center, become familiar with policies, service and operating hours, and register for fitness classes that interest them.
The ground floor alone is designed to meet the needs of over 100 individual users at a time.
The layout allows several distinct groups of users to make use of the facility concurrently.
Some of the equipment can be adapted to be used by people in a wheelchair or using a walker.
“That machinery can be used for rehabilitation,” Superintendent Carla Buboltz said.
The second floor includes a walking track around the perimeter and a studio-classroom – with two mirrored walls – in the middle.
“This space will be used for fitness classes and for our dance team, for our color guard,” Buboltz said. It has its own sound system, separate from the sound system for the ground floor and track.
The ground floor exercise machines face a bank of large television screens.
The facility has multiple entrances – one from the outside, and several connecting to the school itself. The doors to the school building are secure. An elevator in the school provides ADA-compliant access to the second floor of the fitness center.
The facility is designed for use by the community and by students, including student athletes and students taking fitness classes, during and after the school day.
All of the exercise machines and weights are new.
“We are excited, and our offices have been getting calls every day about hours and memberships,” Buboltz said.
