Brillion Iron Works Inc. still listed as owner

April 27, 2017

BRILLION – Metalydne Performance Group Inc. (MPG), which purchased the Brillion Iron Works and closed the foundry last year, was recently acquired by American Axle for $3.3 billion. Neither is listed as the owner of the Brillion Iron Works. Records show the corporation Brillion Iron Works Inc. listed as the owner.

Cheryl Welch of the Redevelopment Authority Commission (RDA) has brought the ownership question to realtor Jim Larkins, of Colliers International in Milwaukee, who has the foundry’s site for sale.

Looking up the corporation doesn’t show a specific owner, but shows an international company managing it out of Madison, according to Welch.

“That should be public information,” Welch told Brillion City Council on Monday. “The name on the property ownership never changed. I would think the owners of these corporations would know what they’re doing.”

Welch also spoke on Monday about how the commission is not looking to wait for the foundry site to be ruined.

“We’re trying to be proactive,” Welch said.

The RDA has passed along ideas for a potential multi-purpose site. Larkins will show the potential of the former foundry to potential buyers.
