REEDSVILLE – Reedsville Public Schools went into a brief lockdown on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 9:21 a.m. the Reedsville Police Department and members of the Manitowoc County Sheriff Department were attempting to apprehend an individual with an active warrant for his arrest when he resisted and fled officers.

The police department said that because of the location and the close proximity to schools, they felt it was necessary to place the schools in a soft lockdown.

The police department says that there was no direct threat made to the schools or the safety of the students and staff at any time during the day. The lockdown was a precautionary measure until they could resolve the incident.

The individual was located, taken into custody and transported to the Manitowoc County Jail.

The Reedsville Police Department is forwarding charges to the Manitowoc County District Attorney’s office.

“This is a great example of the cooperation between law enforcement and our village schools,” Chief Jo Ann Mignon said through a press statement.

The Reedsville Police Department was assisted by Manitowoc County Sheriff Department and the Brillion Police Department.
