Foxconn plant to make ventilators

The Brillion News

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. - Apple's iPhone assembler Foxconn will be aiding the fight against COVID-19 by developing and making ventilators in the U.S. The Wisconsin plant owned by Foxconn will be used to manufacture ventilators, according to Medtronic Chief Executive Officer Omar Ishrak who confirmed it with CNBC. Foxconn also confirmed the partnership in a statement on Wednesday. There has been a critical shortage of ventilators globally. They are needed in the treatment of severe cases of COVID-19. Production will start within the next four to six weeks, Ishrak said, without indicating how many would be produced there. Medtronic said, in late March, that it was "publicly sharing the design specifications for the Puritan Bennett 560 (PB 560) to enable participants across industries to evaluate options for rapid ventilator manufacturing to help doctors and patients dealing with COVID-19."
