STOCKBRIDGE - On Thursday, May 27, the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist the Chilton Police Department by doing a welfare check in the 1200 block of Lake Street in the Village of Stockbridge.

After deputies got there, they spoke with four adults who were living there, and one individual admitted to possessing illegal drugs and that there were other illegal substances located inside the residence.

Sheriff Mark Wiegert said his deputies got a search warrant for the residence and when it was executed, investigators found several illicit drugs including marijuana, methamphetamine, and heroin, along with drug paraphernalia.

All of the drugs and paraphernalia were seized and removed from the home, along with a firearm.

As a result of the incident, a 33 year old male was arrested and taken to the Calumet County Jail and lodged pending formal charges of maintaining a place of drug trafficking, repeat possession of THC, possession of contrtolled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of bail conditions.

On Friday, the district attorney laid three c harges against Michael R. Kopp: felony possession of THC, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. All there were charged as repeat offenses, with the balance of an initial appearance set for July 22. Kopp was freed on a $1,500 signature bond. Kopp will wear a secure transdermal drug monitoring bracelet, by court order.

Charges against the other three suspects will be determined later by the Calumet County District Attorney’s Office. The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Chilton Police Department.

The investigation remains active.
