Manitowoc senior dining sites closed thru April 30; home delivered meals continued with precautions

e Aging and Disability Resource Center of The Lakeshore (ADRC) is taking precautionary steps to protect the vulnerable population it serves in Kewaunee and Manitowoc Counties amidst the rapidly changing situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified older adults to be at a higher risk for serious illness with COVID-19. In response to the potential higher risk of serious illness among our customers, the ADRC is suspending all community events through April 30

, 2020, and managing home visits over the phone when possible. The ADRC is also closing the congregate senior dining sites throughout Kewaunee and Manitowoc Counties. Home Delivered Meals are moving forward with extra precautions. The ADRC remains open during this time and staff is available for information and assistance by phone.

The ADRC will follow the guidance from our public health officers, emergency management departments, state advisory organizations, and recommendations from the CDC when determining further actions.

The CDC recommends that individuals who are at a higher risk of illness consider the following self-protective measures:

● Avoid public places and gatherings

● Do not touch your face

● Wash hands often

● Stay home when you are sick

● Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash

● Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

● If you are feeling ill, call your health provider

The ADRC is a regional organization providing consistent aging and disability resource center and Older Americans Act services to the counties of Kewaunee and Manitowoc.
