STATE 42 CLOSING FOR THE SUMMER SOUTH OF KEWAUNEE

ON THE ROAD AGAIN - State 42 will be fully closed in southern Kewaunee County beginning Tuesday, June 1, and it will stay closed to traffic all summer.
The reason is box culvert replacement and resurfacing south of City of Kewaunee The state Department of Transportation (DOT) said that 42 south of Kewaunee will be closed and detoured starting Tuesday.
The $5.1 million project will resurface 9.9 miles of highway and replace two box culverts between the Manitowoc county line and Baumeister Drive in the City of Kewaunee. The project is expected to finish by the fall 2021.

The lakeshore route is a scenic shortcut to Door County.
A formal detour will take through northbound traffic over County BB west to County AB, then north to State 29 and east, back to 42 in Kewaunee.
For southbound traffic, the detour take vehicles from the City of Kewaunee, west of State 29 to County AB, then south to County BB, and then east on BB to rejoing 42 and continue south.
Access will be maintained to businesses and properties in the work zone. Flagging operations will be used for work conducted not under full closure.
The project will mill and resurface the existing asphalt pavement; replace two deteriorating box culverts; repair/replace various culvert pipes in the work zone; work on storm sewers, beamguards and pavement markings; install rumble strips; and do some minor grading and shoulder widening
