REEDSVILLE – The Reedsville High School baseball team opened its 2015 season with an 8-1 home loss to Denmark on Thursday.
The Vikings scored five runs in the second inning to jump out ahead early in the non-conference title, and extended that lead to 7-0 in the top of the fourth inning. The Panthers were able to score one run in response in the bottom of the fourth, but that was the extent of the team’s offensive highlights on a quiet day at the plate.
Reedsville’s lone run was scored by Trevor Mack.
The Panthers’ had just three hits on the day, with Mack, Elliot Ebert and Riley Kasper all notching singles.
On the mound, Mack and Schamburek each pitched three innings. Mack gave up four hits and seven runs, striking out one. Schamburek walked three and struck out three. Thelen closed out the game with one inning of work, striking out one and walking two.
