UPDATED: Mishicot teen charged with attempted murder

MANITOWOC - A 14-year old Mishicot boy has been charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide for a shooting on November 23 in the Village of Mishicot.

His charging as an adult took place on Monday, December 14.

In addition to the attempted homicide charge, Ethan C. Starnes faces two counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety and one county of endangering safely by the reckless use of a firearm.

All four offenses charged by the Manitowoc County District Attorney's office are felonies.

Bail was set at $30,000 cash.

Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said the boy was arrested on Wednesday, December 2, by his detectives and officers from the Mishicot Police Department.


The case began when deputies were dispatched, at 4:26 a.m. on November 23, to Ridge Road and West Church Street in the Town of Mishicot, where a vehicle was found with gunshots in it. Later, a 22-year old Sheboygan man was admitted to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound - later determined to be linked to the shooting in the Village of Mishicot.

The shooting is believed to have been an isolated incident, with no danger to the public.


The investigating agencies are the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, Mishicot Police Department, Sheboygan Police Department and Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department. The Manitowc County Joint Dispatch Center coordinated police responses to the initial incident. PK's Towing assisted with taking the vehicle into custody as evidence.
