UPDATED: Amish bicyclist badly injured near Reedsville

TOWN OF MAPLE GROVE – A 22-year old rural Reedsville man was badly injured when he was struck by a pickup truck while riding a bicycle north of Reedsville on Friday.

The injured man – Paul Mullet of Grimms Road – is a member of the Reedsville-area Amish community. He suffered back and head injuries when he was run over.

The incident happened on Pleasant View Road, south of Lau Road and north of Sunny Slope Road, at about 2 p.m. Friday, June 24. The site in about halfway between U.S. 10 and the Reedsville Sportsman’s Club.

Mullet was southbound on Pleasant View when he was struck from behind by a southbound pickup truck, driven by a 76-year old Reedsville man, John Vondracheck. The 2006 Ford Ranger was pulling a utility trailer.

Mullet was airlifted from the scene by the Theda Star EMS helicopter. The Reedsville Fire Department, Reedsville EMS First Responders, Valders Ambulance and the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.

Paul Mullet was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, which is not releasing any information about his condition.

Manitowoc County Sheriff Robert Hermann said Vondracheck was cited for inattentive driving. The Wisconsin State Patrol is doing a reconstruction of the crash.
