US 151 closing southwest of Chilton and State 55

CHILTON - U.S. 151, from Calumet County C west to State 55, will be shutting down to traffic for a major culvert pipe installation project.

The work will begin on Monday, August 30, and will take up to a week to complete.

During the project,. traffic will be detoured south from U.S. 151 via County C, then west on County H to U.S. 151 and State 55. The detour runs the same roads, but in the opposite direction, for east and northbound traffic.

The culvert work will make it impossible for through traffic to use U.S. 151 in the construction zone.

The Calumet County Highway Department is doing the work under direction from the state Department of Transportation.

The county hopes to maintain access to homes and business near the construction area as much as possible.
