James E. Boylan

James E. Boylan, 88, of Greenleaf died peacefully Monday, December 24th, 2012, at home with his loving family at his side. JIM BHe was born to the late Edward and Prudence (Browne) Boylan March 3rd, 1924 in Greenleaf.  He married Bernice Benzschawel of Greenleaf on October 20th, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenleaf.  Jim farmed most of his life.  He was also a milk truck driver, town assessor, and school bus driver.  He recently retired from the Town Planning Commission. Jim was one-of-a-kind.  He especially enjoyed spending time with family & friends and was proud of his Irish heritage.  Jim touched the lives of many people in the community.  Through it all he kept his “quick wit” and sense of humor.  He will truly be missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bernice; their children, Tom (Rose) Boylan, son-in-law Dick Kocian, Jerry (Linda) Boylan, Shirley (Dan) Petersen, Dennis Boylan, Donna (Mike) Larson, Ken (Paula) Boylan, Michael Boylan, Janet (Jim) Blauert, Kevin (Maureen) Boylan, and Lisa (Bob) Falck; 28 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Vivian Du Prey Oshkosh; a sister-in-law Ruth Kabat; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Prudence; son Roger; daughter Charlene Kocian; infant sister Anna; sisters Mary Kennedy and Florence  VandeHey; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law   William Kennedy, Robert Du Prey, Mark Vande Hey, Cy and Marge Huss, Robert and Florence Benzschawel, Richard and Ella Mae Benzschawel and Lan Kabat. Friends may call at St. Clare Catholic Church-St. Paul site, 437 Main Street, Wrightstown on Thursday, December 27th from 3 00 to 7 30 p.m. followed by a closing prayer service.  Visitation will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of Mass.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 30 a.m. with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken, Fr. Robert Kabat, and Deacon Ken Kabat concelebrating.  Jim will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenleaf. Nickel Funeral Home, Morrison, assisting the family. The family wishes to thank all who shared in this journey with Dad and the entire family.
