HILBERT - The Hilbert football team had a lead in Saturday afternoon's WIAA Division 7 Level 2 playoff game against Black Hawk/Warren.

But after 8:44 of having a 3-0 lead, the Wolves watched the Warriors score 20 unanswered points, get a 20-3 win, and advance to play Reedsville, at Reedsville, next weekend.

That game is currently shown as scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, November 5, but this week's game was moved to Saturday at Black Hawk's request.

Donald Breckheimer, the father of Hilbert head coach Mike Breckheimer and grandfather of Hilbert senior back Reed Breckheimer, died on Tuesday, October 26. Visitation and funeral arrangements may be viewed at https://www.wietingfuneralhome.com/obituaries/donald-l-breckheimer/

The loss by Hilbert leaves Reedsville as the only team in the Brillion News coverage area still alive in the playoffs.Stories and photos from the Brillion, Hilbert, Wrightstown and Reedsville games will be featured in the November 4 print edition of THE BRILLION NEWS.

The best thing about football games in late October is the absence of mosquitoes and jellowjacket bees at football fields.
