Brillion, Wrightstown advance to WIAA team sectionals

The Brillion and Wrightstown wrestling teams both took first place in their WIAA regionals and advanced to the team sectionals on Tuesday, February 18.

Each team sectional has four teams. They play semifinals at 6 p.m. and sectional finals at 8 p.m., with the winners advancing to the team state tournaments.

The regionals serve to cull the field for both the team and individual sectional tournaments, held at the UW Field House in Madison on March 6 and 7.

Brillion took first at the Division 3 regional it hosted on Saturday, February 15, and will advance to the D3 Amherst Team Sectional. The Lions will play Manawa at 6 p.m. and Coleman will face Amherst. The winners play for the team sectional title at 8 p.m.

Wrightstown took first at the Division 2 regional at New London on Saturday, February 15, and advanced to the D2 Wautoma Team Sectional on Tuesday. Wrightstown faces Tomahawk in a 6 p.m. semifinal; Denmark faces Oconto Falls in the other semi-final. The winners meet for the sectional title at 8 p.m.
