Church bells set to ring on Easter

The Brillion News

GREEN BAY - The Catholic Bishop of Green Bay, David Ricken, is asking all parishes in the Diocese of Green Bay to ring their church bells at noon on Easter Sunday.

He also invited all other churches, of all denominations, to do the same, and encouraged families to ring bells in their homes as well.

"This ringing of the bells, hopefully by all the churches, not just the Catholic churches, for one minute will ring out across our state and remind us, on Easter Sunday, that the victory has already been won and that the Risen Christ is helping us to overcome this virus challenge,” Bishop Ricken said.

Church bells have been run throughout history as a sign of joy, such as on VJ Day when World War II ended.
