KIEL - A two vehicle crash just prior to 10 a.m. on Friday, January 28, claimed the life of a 24-year old Sheboygan man.
He was the driver of a 2017 Jeep Patriot SUV that was southbound on 57/32. His vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2019 Chevrolet Silverado truck.
The driver of the pickup was a 21-year old New Holstein woman. She had an infant passenger in her vehicle, properly restrained.
The baby was not injured; the woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the SUV was killed and pronounced dead at the scene.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. Also helping at the scene were the Kiel Fire Department, Kiel Ambulance, Kiel Police, New Holstein Fire Department, the Manitowoc and Sheboygan County highway departments, the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office, Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office, the Wisconsin State Patrol and Hi-Way 42 Garage. The Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center coordinated the emergency response.
"On behalf of Manitowoc County and our Sheriff's Office, I would like to offer out deepest condolences," Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said.
The crash scene is southeast of Kiel at 57/32 and Lax Chapel Road.
