COLLINS - It's not often that Appleton firefighters get to smell the dairy air, but today (Wednesday, May 19) was one of those days.

The Appleton Fire Department's Haz-Mat Response team was dispatched to Manitowoc County W, halfway between Reedsville and Collins, after a truck hauling hazardous materials left the roadway, just north of Hilltop Road, and went into a ditch, spilling its load.
It happened around 2 p.m.

The Collins Volunteer Fire Department responded and shut down both roads at the scene.
The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department, a State Patrol trooper, and Wisconsin Public Service crews also responded to the scene.
Information about the crash and the load the truck was carrying was not available.
