De Pere man killed in accident in Calumet County

TOWN OF CHILTON – A 77-year-old De Pere man was killed at the scene of a three-car crash at the intersection of State Highway 57 and Schneider Road in the Town of Chilton on Monday night.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office received a call for the accident at 8:12 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that the man was traveling northbound on STH 57 and crossed into the southbound lane and struck two oncoming vehicles.

The driver of one of the southbound vehicles was a 39-year-old man from Appleton, who was not injured. The other southbound driver was a 50-year-old man from Kiel. He and a child passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone that witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Chilton Police Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, Hilbert Fire Department, Chilton Fire Department, Hilbert-Potter First Responders and Kiel Fire Department Ambulance.

The names of those involved are being withheld, pending notification of family.
