Edinger agrees to become Brillion mayor

March 25, 2020

The Brillion News

BRILLION - Longtime Brillion alderperson Mel Edinger has agreed to take over the vacant position of mayor for the city.

Edinger had been serving as city council president when Gary Deiter resigned as mayor last month. The city council president oversees meetings when a mayor misses a meeting, so Edinger already had familiarity being at the head of meetings.

Edinger filling the position until the term expires in April 2021 was the best option, according to Brillion city council members and city administrator Lori Gosz.

Edinger said in February he needed time to think it over. He made his decision to accept the position earlier in March and that was made official during Monday night's city council meeting.
