MADISON - Governor Tony Evers has lost a battle with a Milwaukee TV station after his office refused to turn over the governor's emails as requested by WITI-TV6 under a Public Record Law request.

The governor's office denied the request and the TV station sued Evers in Dane County Circuit Court, where Judge Stephen Ehlke ruled against Evers on November 16.

The TV station had asked for just one day of the governor's emails - from June 14, 2019 - but the governor's office said that wasn't specific enough.

The TV station asked for the emails after discovering that some state government officials were using personal email accounts to communicate about government business.
