Fatal traffic crash in Calumet County

The Calumet County Sheriff's Office released the following press release on Thursday night, Dec. 28.

On Dec. 28, 2023, at about 4:55 p.m., the Calumet County Sheriff's Office was notified of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on STH 114 near Pigeon Rd. in the Village of Harrison. The preliminary investigation revealed a westbound pickup truck struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

• The pedestrian was a 40-year-old female from Fox Crossing.

• The operator of the pickup truck was a 40-year-old male from Sherwood.

Poor visibility due to rain is believed to be a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. The names of those involved are being withheld, pending notification of the family.

The Calumet County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Harrison Fire Rescue (fire department and emergency medical responders), Gold Cross Ambulance, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Calumet County Medical Examiner's Office.
