Fire hits Chilton's Kaytee Products plant

CHILTON - Fire departments and ambulances from four counties sepnt muchof Wednesday afternoon battling a fire inside the Kaytee Products plant in Chilton at 610 Clay Street.

The fire was reported after 1:30 p.m. on August 12 and the building was evacuated.


The Chilton Fire Department responded immediately and called for additional help from the Potter, Brillion, Hilbert, New Holstein, Kiel, Valders and Town of Calumet fire departments.

Police blocked off streets in the area, including Irish Road.

At least three people were transported to the Ascension Calumet Hospital, but the nature of their medical needs was not known. Ambulances from Kiel and Valders were at the scene, along with New Holstein EMS First Responders.

The fire was ruled extinguished at 4:45 p.m., although some fire departments were released from the scene earlier.

The fire is under investigation. This story will be updated on Thursday, August 13.
