FRANCIS CREEK - A 32-year old Cudahy man has been arrested after his car blew a stop sign and crashed into St. Anne Catholic School in Francis Creek around 1:20 a.m. on Monday, August 2.

Daniel Lepak was arrested for operating while intoxicated-causing great bodily harm and reckless driving-causing great bodily harm. He was also ticketed for unreasonable speed, failing to stop for a stop sign, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of open intoxicants and failure to wear a seat belt.

Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig said Lepak was driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra eastbound on County V. It went through the stop sign, crossed County R, and plowed into the school.

Lepak suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

His passenger, 21-year old Isaiah Miramontes, of Milwaukee, wasn't so lucky.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Aurora Baycare Hospital in Green Bay by ThedaStar EMS helicopter. Lepak was transported by ground ambulance.

"Alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors," Sheriff Hartwig said.

The crash remains under investigation, with the Wisconsin State Patrol doing an accident reconstruction.

Attending to the crash scene were Manitowoc County Sheriff's deputies, the State Patrol, Francis Creek Fire Department and its EMS First Responders, Manitowoc Fire & Rescue, Kellnersville Fire Department, ThedaStar EMS Helicopter, Manitowoc County Highway Department and PK's Auto. The Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center coordinated the emergency responses.
