Geiger, Bishop to celebrate rural life day

TOWN OF NEWTON, Manitowoc County – Corey Geiger, editor of Hoard’s Dairyman and author of the book On a Wisconsin Family Farm, will join Green Bay Catholic Bishop David Ricken to celebrate Rural Life Day 2022.


The event takes place at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 8100 Brunner Road, in Newton. That is five miles east of St. Nazianz on Manitowoc County C and then a mile south of C on State 42.


It begins with a 10 a.m. Mass and the bishop’s blessing of seeds, soil, farm animals and farm equipment. Lunch follows at 11:30 a.m. Meal tickets must be purchased at least seven days in advance through the parish, phone 920-726-4228 or online at stthomasnewton.org. Geiger, who grew up on his family’s farm between Reedville and Brillion, is a member of Holy Family Parish of Brillion-Reedsville-Maple Grove.
