WRIGHTSTOWN – Major work on the I-41 bridges over Apple Creek, just north of the County U interchange, near the Mid-Vallee Golf Course, are expected to have traffic impacts.

The state Department of Transportation is doing resurfacing of I-41 between De Pere and Kaukauna now until November,

Grading on the southbound outside shoulder of I-41 began this week.

Traffic impacts: I-41 nighttime lane closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., however, construction will be suspended for the upcoming July 4th weekend. No work on the project will be performed between noon Friday, June 30 and 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 5.

Starting July 6, there will be ramp closures at night at the County U interchange with I-41:

  1. County U northbound off-ramp Closed from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., Thursday, July 6

  2. County U northbound on-ramp Closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Thursday, July 6

  3. County U southbound off-ramp Closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday, July 7

  4. County U southbound on-ramp Closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday, July 7

Construction will be conducted in stages for the I-41 Apple Creek bridge improvements. Apple Creek bridges will be rehabbed one half at a time, which will shift traffic onto three lanes (two in one direction and one in the opposite direction) on one side of I-41 and leave one remaining adjacent to the work zone. This traffic switch is currently scheduled for July 7.

Temporary median cross-overs will be paved, in preparation for rebuilding the Apple Creek bridge decks.

After July 6, sawing of the bridge deck will begin.

I-41/County U northbound off-ramp will be closed at a later date for 15 consecutive days. Days/time to be announced later.

County S (between I-41 ramps) will be closed at a later date for 15 consecutive days. Days/time to be announced later.
