MANITOWOC – A single-vehicle rollover crash on Wednesday, July 17, south of Manitowoc on I-43, claimed the life of the driver.
It happened around 1:45 p.m. and involved a passenger car heading north on I-43 just north of Clover Road.
Witnesses told investigating troopers from the State Patrol that the car left its lane of travel and went into the median shoulder. The driver apparently over-corrected, crossed the right lane and then went into the right ditch.
The driver was identified as 35-year old Rae Lee Trevino, of Sheboygan.
The vehicle roller over in the ditch and the driver was ejected, suffering fatal injuries. The passenger suffered only minor injuries.
The Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) and Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department attended to the crash, along with EMS personnel. The WSP’s Technical Accident Reconstruction Unit is handling the investigation.
It was the second traffic fatality in Manitowoc County in less than a week.
