TOWN OF FRANKLIN - A 70-year old Whitelaw woman was killed on Friday morning, March 25, in a one-vehicle rollover traffic crash.

It happened on Hillcrest Road, east of Manitowoc County T, at approximately 4:44 a.m.

"The woman was pronounced dead on scene after life-saving efforts were attempted by deputies and first responders," Sheriff Dan Hartwig said

Investigating officers believe the woman was operating a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer eastbound on Hillcrest Road when she lost control of the vehicle on the icy road.

It left the roadway entered the south ditch and rolled, throwing the woman from her vehicle.

"For those traveling prior to sunrise and after sunset, especially during the spring season, please remember to drive with caution as roadways may be slippery," the sheriff said. "Always wear your seat belt."

The Manitowoc Joint Dispatch Center coordinated the emergency response by the sheriff's department, Manitowoc Rescue, Kellnersville First Responders, Kellnersville Fire Department, Manitowoc County Highway Department, the Manitowoc County Coroner's Office and PK's Towing.

"On behalf of the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, I would like to offer our deepest condolences," Hartwig said.

The name of the victim is being withheld while relatives are contacted.
