MARINETTE - A 62-year old Askeaton woman was killed in a traffic crash in the Town of Stephenson in rural Marinette County on the afternoon of Saturday, March 26.

Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve identified the deceased woman as Sally J. Williams Griese of St. Pat's Church Road in the Brown County Town of Holland.

She was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled.

The crash happened on Parkway Road near Eagle Road when a southbound SUV left the pavement, went into the east ditch, and rolled over.

Two adult women were in the vehicle.

Williams Griese was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marinette County Medical Examiner.

The other woman, Kim J. Thomson, 48, of De Pere, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff said speed and alcohol use appeared to be factors in the crash.

It remains under investigation.

The Town of Stephenson Fire Department and Aurora Bay Area Paramedics attended the scene with sheriff's deputies.

It was the first traffic fatality in Marinette County in 2022.
