Todd Michael Maertz, age of 55 of Reedsville, passed away peacefully with family at his side early Saturday morning, May 22, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Todd was born in Reedsville on December 12, 1965 to Jerry and Peggy (Stedl) Maertz. He attended Reedsville Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1985 from Reedsville High School. On October 7, 2000, he married Kristie L. Christel at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. Todd was employed with Professional Plating (PPI) of Brillion for the past 35 years. He was a dedicated member of the Reedsville Fire Department for 30 years, currently serving as assistant chief of the department. He enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard perfectly groomed, riding his motorcycle, "going to the farm", and deer hunting with his cousins and uncles. He also enjoyed biking around town to visit with family and friends, always willing to help out a neighbor in need.
He is survived by his wife, Kristie; one son, Mitchell; his parents, Jerry and Peggy Maertz of Reedsville; brothers and sisters: Tom (Amy) Maertz of Darboy, Amy (John) Lischka of Pembine, Becky (Casey) Taddy of Reedsville, and Jason (Jennifer) Maertz of Reedsville. He is further survived by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Pat (Jim) Grabowski, Whitewater, Jerome (Debra) Christel, St. Nazianz, Roseanne (Bruce) Mosier, Hunlock Creek, PA, Mary Christel, Manitowoc, Karen (Chris) Charles, Reedsville, Lori (Shelley) Hansen, Maribel, Markus (Coreen) Christel, Reidsville, N.C; along with many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father & mother-in-law, Eugene and Carol Christel; brother-in-law, Michael Christel; and grandparents: Ervin and Luzetta Maertz, and Raymond "Butch" and Anastasia Stedl.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Brillion. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Tom Pomeroy, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Reedsville.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Parish Wednesday evening, May 26th from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at the church, after 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at 11:30 a.m. Due to the pandemic, facial masks are encouraged.
