OBITUARY: Almond F. Buboltz

Almond F. Buboltz, age 85, of Brillion, passed away at his home on Sunday November 27, 2016.


He was born March 25, 1931 in Antigo, son of the late Almond Sr. and Lauretta (Emmer) Buboltz. He attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Brillion High School in 1949. On October 25, 1952 he married Helen “Lovee” Schroeder at St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on December 3, 1952. He was stationed at Fort Knox, KY until leaving for Korea on May 25, 1953. He returned to the U.S. in October of 1954 and was honorably discharged in November of 1954. He started as a delivery man for Bessert Gas in Brillion shortly after graduating from high school and continued working there for successor owners until his retirement from Ferrel Gas in 1993. Al was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion, serving two terms as congregation president and holding numerous other church council positions. He was active in the Brillion Jaycees and the Bloedorn Becker Jensen American Legion Post #126 where he served two separate terms as Post Commander. He served as Historian for the Post and authored over 100 articles for the Brillion News honoring area veterans. He also compiled a number of scrapbooks on area veterans and made them available for area churches and service organizations. Al was very humbled to be able to travel to Washington D.C. in 2013 as a member of the Honor Flight. He was an avid Packers and Cubs fan, but he will be most remembered for his faith, his love of family and his love for his country.

Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Helen, 4 children, Shelley and Jay Vanderhoof of Appleton, Rick and Dawn Buboltz of DePere, Kim and Steve Simmons of Brillion, Doug and Carla Buboltz of Wrightstown, 10 grandchildren and  18 great grandchildren, Rev. Collin and Tiffany Vanderhoof and their children Noah, Micah, and Grace, Justin and Emily Vanderhoof and their children, Madelyn, Noelle and Hannah, Brandon and Jill Vanderhoof and their children Blake, Natalie, and Alyssa, Casey and Tracy Buboltz and their daughter Caroline, Amy and John Wilma and their son Jack, Nick and Kate Simmons and their children Jack and Gwen, Jaclyn and Jason Keller and their children Lauren, Ella, Griffin and Delaney, Brittney and Mike Horn and their daughter Molly, Sadie Buboltz and Almond Bryce Buboltz, 2 brothers Eldore and Audrey Buboltz and Terry and Marlene Buboltz, 2 sisters, Joanne Vande Yacht and Peggy and Gerry Sonnabend, a sister-in-law Janet Buboltz and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Henry and Helen Schroeder, a brother Eugene, a sister Marvis, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Alvin Hackbarth, Evelyn and John Kalista,  Caroline and Jerome Schroeder.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 601 E. National Ave. in Brillion. The Rev. Ross Henzi and Rev. Thomas Fricke will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Bloedorn Becker Jensen American Legion Post #126. Visitation will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and then again at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:45 a.m.
