Obituary: Carol J. Stever

Carol J. Stever, age 82, of Brillion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton surrounded by her family.

Carol was born on July 9, 1940 in Green Bay, daughter of the late Wilmer and Lillian (Treichel) Klug. She was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1958. On June 27, 1959, she married Virgil Stever at Zion Lutheran Church in Morrison. Carol was employed at Zander Press for over 30 years before her retirement. Carol and Virgil loved to travel up north to their cabin in Conover, WI. There she would spend many hours with family, do girls weekends, and play various games. She also enjoyed casino trips. Carol enjoyed and was a part of the women’s bowling league for a number of years. She was an avid sports fan, always watching the Brewers, Packers, and any other sports for that matter. The most important thing to Carol was family. She absolutely loved all of her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Carol’s faith and Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church were also so very important to her, and when her time was ending here on earth, she prayed to our Lord with Pastor Henzi, and knew she was ready for whatever the Lord had planned for her.

Carol is survived by her husband of 63 years, Virgil of Brillion; their children and spouses: Robin (Dorothy) of Brillion, Russell, Kenneth, both of Fort Worth, TX, Gene of Brillion, and Ronald (LeAnn) of Little Suamico; grandchildren: Dana (Chad) Behnke of Darboy, Dustin (Carlye) of DePere, Travis (Riley) of Brillion, Justin (special friend Cheyanne) of Appleton, and Amanda (special friend Aaron) of Green Bay; great-grandchildren: Parker, Peyton, Keegan, Noah, and Casen; sibling and in-laws: Jan (special friend Joe) Belanger of Norman, OK, Donna (Mel) Edinger of Brillion, Jerry (Barb) Klug of Green Bay, and Jeff Klug of Greenleaf; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gerhardt and Elsie (Thielsfeldt) Stever; an infant brother-in-law, and other relatives.

Funeral Service was held at 12:00 p.m. (NOON) on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Brillion. Officiating was Rev. Ross Henzi and Rev. Thomas Fricke. Burial took place in Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends called the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m.

Online condolences may be made.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ascension St. Elizabeth’s Hospital for their care and compassion and especially to Pastor Henzi for his visits and prayer in preparing mom to meet our Lord.
