Carol Jean Propson, age 77, of Brillion, died on December 24, 2021, at Brillion West Haven.
She was born December 16, 1944, daughter of the late Randolph and Florence (Binsfeld) Propson.
Carol was a 1962 graduate of Brillion High School after which she began a 14 year career as the Office Manager at Wisconsin Public Service Corporation until WPS closed that office. She then stayed in the same office as an employee of the Zander family at Zander Press where she worked as an office assistant, proofreader, and was taught darkroom work – shooting negatives and stripping in jobs for the next 4 years. She then started a 26 ½ year career with Heyrman Printing in Green Bay in the darkroom, making negs and platemaking for 5 presses at the time she retired in 2007. She then began volunteering at Holy Family Parish which led to a part-time job there.
Traveling was a highlight for Carol in her younger days and she was proud of having made trips to 14 states and travelled internationally on a cruise to Puerto Rico and trips to Germany, Austria, Venezuela, Switzerland and Czechoslovakia. Prague in Czechoslovakia was her favorite with the Statue of St. Norbert with a monstrance over the Charles River and many churches to tour that were once behind the Iron Curtain. In her later years, her trips were more limited to weekend gambling trips to Laughlin or Vegas or day trips to Oneida or Keshena.
Carol was a faithful servant – very righteous in her approach to life and sincere in her concerns that people do the right things. As her mother’s caretaker, she provided a level of care and an extra push that kept Florence going to nearly 90, often checking in on her during her lunch and breaks when she was still working and later caring for her 24 hours a day.
Carol cherished her siblings, nieces and nephews: Patricia (James) Schneider and their children Steven and Stuart; Donna (deceased) (Joseph) Loderbauer and their children Shirley, Robert, Richard and Sherry (deceased); Ronald (Joanne) Propson and their daughter, Amanda; Leon (deceased) (Janice) Propson and their children Vincent, Adam, Chris, Patrick, and Meagan; Vernon (Mary) Propson and their children Stacey, Scott, Jon, Jesse, Tammy and Ben; Theresa (Richard) Robach and her children Jason, Joshua (deceased), Jeremiah and Jessica.
She is further survived by many grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.
A mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Holy Family Church (1100 West Ryan Street) in Brillion. Friends and family may call from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the church. Masks are requested for those attending visitation and services at the church.
