Chester A. Zorn, age 90, of Brillion, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Brillion West Haven.
Chet was born on August 22, 1926 in Brillion, son of the late Otto and Edna (Wagner) Zorn. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1945. Chet was drafted after graduation and served our country in the United States Navy. On February 6, 1948, Chet married Mary Ann Burich in Crown Point, Indiana. The couple celebrated 68 happy years together before Mary Ann preceded her in death on February 6, 2016. Chet’s love for cars both old and new dominated his life. He was a GM car dealer in Whitewater from 1965 until 1986. When he retired, he took a trip to Texas to Alaska with his beloved Model T Group. He also enjoyed listening to music and watching sports. He followed in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps and enjoyed building and remodeling home in both Whitewater and Brillion. Mary Ann and Chet had many moves during their 68 years of marriage. In 2011, Chet suffered a stroke which left him paralyzed. He spent the remainder of his life at West Haven in Brillion.
Chet is survived by his children: Michelle (John) Sladky and their children: Stephen and Keith of Grafton and Michael (Nancy) Zorn of Keller, TX and their children: Nick (Rachel) and Jasen; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Vande Yacht of Hollandtown and Betty Zorn of Salina, KS; brother-in-law: David Burich of Green Bay; and many dear nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Ann, two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Allen (Joyce) Zorn, Vernon Zorn, and Madge Burich; and a sister and two brothers-in-law: Betty (Erling) Peterson and Jim (Ann) Burich.
Per wishes of the family, a memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the old Brillion Town Cemetery on Highway PP (unless there is a snowstorm for then the memorial service will be at Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion). Officiating will be the Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke. Military Honors will be accorded by the Becker, Bloedern, Jensen Post 126 of Brillion.
