Obituary: David R. Suchan

David R. Suchan, age 75, of Reedsville, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.


Dave was born on June 10, 1947 in Manitowoc, son of the late Robert and Rose (Carter) Suchan. He was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1965. Dave served in the United States Army Reserves. On August 23, 1969 he married Joanne Ross at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Brillion. Dave began working at Struebing Iron and Metal while in high school. He later worked at Vinton Construction, the Brillion Iron Works, and retired from the Ariens Company. Dave enjoyed going to the Iola Car Show and various steam engine shows. He enjoyed building go-karts, riding his Harley, anything that involved engines, socializing with friends, and spending time up north with friends.

Survivors include his wife: Joanne; their children: Laura (John) Bursa of Green Bay, Keri Suchan of Reedsville, Jeff Suchan of Reedsville, and Amy (Scott) Deschler of Appleton; grandchildren: Jacob Bursa and Connor and Lucas Deschler; two brothers: Mike Suchan of Hilbert and Steve (Barb) Suchan of Eagle River; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jim (Monica) Ross of TX and Nancy (Tom) Schwartz of Brillion. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father: Merlin Piepenburg; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Gertie Ross.

Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at St. John-St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Officiating the service was be the Rev. Ross Henzi. Military Rites were accorded by the AmVets Post 1032 of Reedsville.

The family meet relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

Online condolences may be made. Memorials are appreciated for a memorial fund has been established.

The Pielhop Wieting Funeral Homes of Reedsville and Brillion are assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Brillion EMT’s, Brillion Police Department, the doctors and nurses at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and Pielhop Wieting Funeral Homes for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank all of their friends and family that have called or stopped by.
