OBITUARY: Deacon Cyril "Bud" Klister

Cyril John “Bud” Klister, age 75, was taken from his home to heaven by his guardian angel on Guardian Angel Day, October 2, 2021.

His family was by his side to help him along on the journey. He was born September 12, 1946, son of the late Cyril Herman Klister and Martha Margaret (Haen) Klister. On August 10, 1979, Bud married Dolores Marie “Dee” Dvorachek at St. Mary Catholic Church, Reedsville, Wisconsin.

Bud graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1964. He then attended Sacred Heart Minor Seminary, Oneida, WI and St. Paul Major Seminary, St. Paul, MN, completing a B.A. in Philosophy in 1968. He continued studies at St. Paul Seminary until 1971 and served as a transitional deacon at St. Paul Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He earned a Masters in Public Administration from University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and a Masters in Theological Studies from St. Norbert’s College by 2007.

Bud was ordained a Permanent Deacon of the Catholic Church on May 25, 2002 by Bishop Robert Banks. He was truly honored to serve as deacon at Holy Name Parish, Kimberly, WI 2002-2007 and Holy Spirit Parish, Darboy/Kimberly, 2007-present. During his life of service he was employed by Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, Villa Phoenix and Klister House, Appleton, Private Industry Council, Appleton and the Housing Authority/Golden Ventures, Kaukauna.

Bud was a man who lived his Christian faith in many ways. He expressed this through his love for his family, kindness to all, gentleness, generosity of time and talent, honesty and humility. He demonstrated his sense of humor quietly, sometimes without realizing it. Bud enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, and volunteering for many causes close to his heart. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment he was able to spend with them.

Survivors include Bud’s loving wife of 42 years, Dee. Together they share two sons and their families: Andrew Cyril (Caitlin Feiereisen) and children Natalie Grace, Norah Mary and Charles Cyril; and Edward Cyril (Laura Russo) and children Cyril Albert and Francis Edward. Siblings include Mary (David “Moe") VanZeeland, Kaukauna, WI; Barbara (Robert) Ludke, Superior, CO; John Klister, Monroe, WA; David Klister, Kaukauna, WI; Karl (Rebecca) Windinwood, Ojai, CA and Kristine "Tina" (David) Wiedenhaupt, Williams Bay, WI.
