OBITUARY: Dolores “Dee Dee” Mae Vanderhoof

Dolores “Dee Dee” Mae Vanderhoof, age 87, of Brillion, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Appleton.

Dolores was born on November 2, 1928 in La Crosse County, daughter of the late Clifton and Alice (Johnson) Storandt.  She was a graduate of West Salem High School, class of 1947.  She went on to further her education at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, graduating in 1950 with a degree in childhood education.  Dolores and Merrill met while she was in college. They were married on June 28, 1952 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in West Salem.  Dolores was a school teacher in New London from 1950-1952.  She then taught in Chilton for one year before the couple moved to Brillion.  They remained in Brillion, and she was a kindergarten teacher from 1954 until her retirement in 1986.  Dolores was a member at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter, past member of the Women’s Guild at church, past member of the Brillion Woman’s Club for over 40 years, was a charter member of the Calumet County Retired Educators Association, was a charter member of the Brillion Red Hattitudes, and was a charter member and first president of the Brillion JayCettes.  She and Merrill enjoyed traveling, and even made it to all 50 states.  She also enjoyed playing bridge, boating, going on cruises, golfing, and especially loved spending time with her family.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 63 years, Merrill; their son and daughter-in-law: Jay & Shelley Vanderhoof; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law and their families: Collin & Tiffany and their children: Noah, Micah, and Grace, Justin & Emily and their children: Madelyn, Noelle, and Hannah, and Brandon & Jill and their children: Blake, Natalie, and Alyssa; one brother and sister-in-law: Richard & Mary Storandt; one step-sister-in-law: Mary Duerst; an AFS son: Jaime Gonzalez and his family in Santiago, Chile, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, mother-in-law, and step-father-in-law: Peter Vanderhoof, Beulah Vanderhoof-Prabst, and Max Prabst, one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law: Kay & Howard Keller and Dean Duerst; and other relatives.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter.  Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod.  Burial will be at Brillion Community Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
