Obituary: Dorothy “Dolly” F. Fischer

Dorothy “Dolly” F. Fischer, age 94, of Brillion, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Unity Hospice in De Pere.

 




Dolly was born on April 23, 1930 in Pound, WI., daughter of the late John and Flora (Thurow) Seefeldt. She was a graduate of Brillion High School with the class of 1948. On October 15, 1949 she married her high school sweetheart Wallace “Wally” J. Fischer in Black Creek, WI. They were married for 61 years before he preceded her in death on March 20, 2011. In high school, Dolly worked at Dr. Kloehn’s dentist office as a receptionist. She later went on to work at Brillion Iron Works and as a cook for Brillion Public Schools. Dolly was a long time member of Peace United Church of Christ and was active with the Women’s Guild and various church committees. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Wally, flowers and was a writer of poetry. Above all else, Dolly loved her family and at two points in her life was part of five generations of living women in the family. 

 

Survivors include her children: John Fischer, Brillion, Dan Fischer (special friend Claire Bessette), Cedarburg, Gary (Tammy) Fischer, Brillion; ten grandchildren: Laura Parsley (special friend Al), Dr. James Benzschawel (special friend Lona), Michael (Heidi) Benzschawel, Paul (Nicole) Benzschawel, Rachel (Jerod) Madala, Ruth (Bill) Weber, Anna (Justin) Lecher, Stephen (Morgan) Fischer, Dana (Tom) Marsh and Emily Fischer; numerous great and great great grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law: Marion (Don) Cooper; and one sister-in-law: Caroline Wolfmeyer. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl (Glen) Benzschawel; her siblings: Allen (Helen) Seefeldt, Dan (Alice) Seefeldt, Joyce (Rev. Edward) Rodel, June Hemric, Mae (Earl) Kossman, Mildred (Arthur) Wellman; and one brother-in-law: Allan Wolfmeyer.

 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Peace United Church of Christ in Brillion. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke with burial at Brillion Community Cemetery.

 

The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

Dolly would like to thank her children, faithful friends Leonard and Jane Kopidlansky and her neighbor Alice Wagner for all the assistance, love and companionship over the years. Dolly’s family would like to thank Brillion Gold Cross Ambulance, Bellin Hospital of Green Bay, Unity Hospice of De Pere and Officer Matt Kluck of the Brillion Police Department for all the care and compassion shown to their mom.
