OBITUARY: Dorothy Frances Bosserman

Dorothy Frances Bosserman (nee Keller, formerly Seybold) passed away Friday, September 3, 2021, at Evergreen Sharehaven, Oshkosh, at the young age of 98.

Dorothy was born on June 24, 1923 in Forest Junction, Calumet County, and was the second of six children born to John and Adelia (nee Stanelle) Keller.

Dorothy graduated from Brillion High School and as a 2-year Diploma Rural graduate from Oshkosh Teachers College and taught rural schools in Calumet County until her marriage to Leonard Seybold in 1946. Until his death in 1967, she helped on their purebred Holstein farm and worked as bookkeeper for Calumet County Farm Bureau, Calumet Farmco Cooperative, Rural Insurance agent, and part-time at her brother’s business, Keller Structures at Kaukauna.

On May 9, 1970, she married Rev. Roy Bosserman in Eau Claire, and they served Black Hawk United Methodist Church, Sauk City until their retirement to Lomira in 1974.

Not having children of her own, did not stop her from being involved with them as a schoolteacher which involved grades 1 through 8. In her churches, she worked in Sunday Schools for 32 years, as youth counselor, camp counselor at Camp Lucerne, and vacation Bible school teacher until their retirement. They worked together building their round house and were involved in genealogy which took them on many trips. One search brought great joy when they found Roy’s adopted son’s biological younger sister in 1986 who had also been adopted and they reunited after 42 years apart. Dorothy served in many capacities in the local mission organization, was Eastern WI District leader and Branch treasurer in the former Evangelical W.S.W.S. and Conference treasurer of the E.U.B. Women’s Society of Christian Service. She attended the women’s convention in Annville, PA and Assemblies in Cincinnati, OH and Anaheim, CA. Dorothy was a member of the Steering committee for the union of the women’s societies in 1969 which became the United Methodist Women of the United Methodist Church.

Since moving to Evergreen in Oshkosh in 1992, she has been very involved in volunteering and serving on many committees. She served as President, Vice-President, and Treasurer of the Residents Council, served on many Board committees and was a resident member of the Board of Directors for 7 years. She enjoyed her work in the Manor Mart Thrift shop for many years.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by husbands, Leonard Seybold and Roy Bosserman; step-mother, Laura Keller; three brothers, Rueben Keller, Lester (Mavis & Janet) Keller, and Walter (Lois) Keller; half-brother, Howard (Kay) Keller; two sisters, Ruth Keller and Florence (Walter) Enneper; and step-daughter-in-law, Loa Bosserman.
