Harland H. Wunrow, age 87, passed away at Brillion West Haven on Sunday, December 3rd surrounded by his family.
Harland was born on Dec 31, 1929 in the Town of Rantoul to Herbert and Lillian (Wunsch) Wunrow, he was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church on Jan 5, 1930. Harland was a lifelong member of Trinity Church, and attended all eight grades at the school. He held many offices within the church, and was a member of the Trinity Men’s Choir for many years. On May 17,1952 he married Vanice (Plate) Wunrow at St. Peters Church in Hilbert. Harland and Vanice lived on the Wunrow homestead, which is in its 5th generation of Wunrows. Harland farmed , and later worked for the Town of Rantoul as their Road Superintendent until the age of 73. He always enjoyed any kind of construction work and making maple syrup through the years. He was a member of the Potter Fire Dept. and Potter Community Assoc. But his most important question to anyone he met, was “And where do you go to church?”, reminding them this was very important in their lives.
He is survived by his wife Vanice, six children: Steven (Ariel), Canandaigua N.Y., Larry (Jackie), Chilton, Jeffrey (Lori) Hilbert, Lisa (Ron) Howarth, Rochester N.Y., Tina Forest Junction, and Mark (Jessica) Hilbert. Grandchildren, Harland Wunrow, Stacy & Bob Woelfel, Lori & Bob Schmitz, John & Mary Wunrow, Jenny Brock, Amy Kautzer, Michael & Stephanie Wunrow, Jill & Tom Walsh, Matthew Wunrow, Taylor Howarth, Nick Wunrow (special friend Malia O’Keefe), Kendra and Alexis Wunrow. There are 16 great grandchildren. One sister Constance Wenzel of Brillion. Harland was preceded in death by his parents Lil & Herb Wunrow, in-laws Celia and Arthur Plate, a daughter-in-law Deborah Wunrow, brother in law Wyman Wenzel. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church -Rantoul (N6080 West River Road Hilbert) with the Rev. J. Patrick Niles officiating. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am.
