OBITUARY: Howard G. Heimke

Howard G. Heimke, age 93, formerly of Brillion, passed away peacefully at Bellin Hospital on Thursday, October 21, 2021 surrounded by his family.


Howard was born on May 21, 1928 in Brillion, son of the late Harvey and Lena Heimke. He was a graduate of Brillion High School, class of 1946. Howard went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin. Howard married Harriet Schnell on June 24, 1949 at Zion United Methodist Church in Forest Junction. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2016. He worked for 41 years at the Brillion Iron Works until his retirement. Howard was also a member of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, and sang in the choir, Brillion Lions Club member serving as a Lions District Governor and President of the Wisconsin Lions Foundation, was in the Brillion Barbershop Quartet, and was a Boy Scout Leader. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and all sports. He especially had a passion for lawn and yard care. His hobbies always included reading, especially his morning portals of prayer, and working on the jumbo in the Press Gazette and other crossword puzzles. Howard loved his family and truly enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by one son: Thomas (Mary) Heimke of Covington, GA; grandchildren: Kelly (Patrick) Waeghe of Green Bay, Jacob (Jessica)Van Lanen of Green Bay, Saul (Allie) Van Lanen of Green Bay, Andrew Martens of DePere, Jason (Tanya) Heimke of Neenah, and Nicole Padget of Appleton; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Donald (Marilyn) Heimke; sister: Germaine Farrell; other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Heimke; one daughter, Annette Martens; grandson: Samuel Van Lanen; brother: Ronald Heimke; two brothers-in-law: Don Schnell and Robert Ferrell, and other relatives.

Funeral Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church in Brillion. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Krueger. Burial will be at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Brillion.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m until the time of the service.
