OBITUARY: James M. Barrabee

James M. Barrabee, 91, De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 after a long illness.


He was born June 10, 1925 to the late Frank and Lucille (Stern) Barrabee in Brookline, Massachusetts. Jim attended Boston Latin School and entered Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1942 returning to graduate in 1948 after serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Pine Island in the Pacific theater. Over his lifetime, Jim held several engineering and quality management positions retiring from the Brillion Iron Works in 1990.  He was a member of the American Foundrymen’s Society and was a Certified Quality Engineer and elected fellow for the American Society for Quality. Jim also served as an Educational Councilor for prospective MIT students in the northeast Wisconsin area. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his wife Eiko, sons David (Linda) Barrabee, Chris (Beth) Kirby, Bob (Caitlyn) Kirby; daughters Lisa (Paul) Williams, Teresa (Mark) Behm; grandchildren Benjamin, Ryan, Krysta, Mason, Zach, Landon, Nico, Brennan, and Julian; and great-grandchild Marley.

Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, July 9, 2016.  Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Inurnment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.  Please visit www.ryanfh.com to send a condolence to Jim’s family.
