James R. Rusch, age 67, of Chilton lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Atrium Post Acute Care of Chilton.
He was born October 13, 1949 in Sheboygan, son of the late Ruben R. and Eva J. (Mohr) Rusch. James graduated from Chilton High School class of 1967. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan for several years. Upon discharge, he worked as an electrician apprentice in Colorado Springs. While in Colorado Springs, he was contributor and supporter of the Navigators Ministries. Upon being laid off, James developed an interest in electrical engineering anddecided to go on to school at the University of Arizona. He completed his Bachelors of Science degree in electrical engineering and continued his education after, working on his Master’s Degree. He worked as an electrical engineer at the Hughes Aircraft Company in Glendale California for a short time. James eventually decided he enjoyed most the solitude and physical labor of farm life. He returned to the family farm to raise and tend to the pigs until his retirement. He seemed to almost enjoy the difficult physical tasks of the farm. He spent hours cutting trees to heat his house during the winter months, cutting logs for lumber. For relaxation, James would love to watch football with his family and attending family gatherings. He was an avid runner that enjoyed an almost nightly, 2 or 3-mile run through the countryside. James was a member of Calvary Chapel Church in Appleton where he attended church and strengthened his faith. He was always intrigued by researching the scriptures. The Bible was important to him and how he lived his life. James is survived by his sister, Amy (Orvis) Genske of Brillion; brothers: Steven (Peggy) Rusch of Chilton, and Phillip (Stacy) Rusch of Brookfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
